New details from Kim Kardashian West’s terrifying Paris holdup have emerged.
The 35-year-old reality star, who was staying at The No Address Hotel, was held at gunpoint early Monday morning in her room by masked men dressed as police officers. Kardashian West was in her bathroom while five burglars took two cellphones and approximately $10 million worth of jewelry, including a $4 million ring.
“[Kim] was tied up, and gagged with duct tape wrapped around her head. They put plastic ties around her wrists but she managed to squeeze her hands out of the wrist ties by wriggling her hands,” a source close to Kardashian West tells PEOPLE.
“She was hysterical but not screaming as she knew she had to keep quiet to survive,” the insider shared, adding, “The reports of her fear of being raped are real. She really did think she was going to be raped. She had a gun to her head the whole time.”

After freeing herself, Kardashian West “screamed from the balcony” and was heard by her close friend Simone Harouche, a separate source says to PEOPLE. Harouche, a former Kardashian stylist, was in a nearby room but was not present during the break in. “[Simone] was downstairs and called Pascal (Kim’s bodyguard) not knowing what was going on asking if everything was OK,” the source explained.
Kim was in Paris for Fashion Week with her sisters Kourtney Kardashian and Kendall Jenner as well as momager Kris Jenner. Kim’s husband Kanye West abruptly ended his New York City concert when he was notified about his wife’s scary ordeal.
A source previously told PEOPLE that the rapper is “furious” about his wife’s incident. “He feels like she was terrorized. It’s not just that she was robbed; it’s that she was put into a position where she begged for her life, thought she was going to be raped. She was brutalized and manhandled,” the source shared.

At the time of the heist, PEOPLE had confirmed that the couple’s children, North, 3, and Saint, 9 months, were not involved.
Kardashian West was greeted in New York City by her husband after leaving Paris just hours after the life-threatening ordeal.
A Kardashian family source told PEOPLE that the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star “is still upset, but being with the kids made her feel a bit better.” Added the source: “Kim left the kids in NYC because she thought it would be a much better environment for them.”
On Monday, Kendall was spotted departing Paris via a private plane while Kourtney was pictured arriving at Los Angeles International Airport.
