2016 has been a year fraught with death, sadness, and insanity, even if we’re just talking about what we saw on TV. Through it all, the laughter has never died. As proof, here are a whole bunch of TV moments that made us laugh this year.
This is not a list of the funniest things that happened on TV in 2016, since that would be really difficult and polarizing to compile. This is just a list of things that made us laugh really hard in 2016, and hopefully it will bring you as much joy as it brings … read more

We’re not here to deny it. It’s been a rough year.
Though it’s hard to pinpoint when 2015 ended and 2016 began, existentially speaking, 2016 itself fast got a reputation for being a singularly awful year, particularly if you were in any way keeping up with what the Internet had to say. At least now you know half of what you read wasn’t true…
Sure, happy things occurred, as they always do, even amid disaster. People enjoyed time with their families, got married, brought babies into the world, got … read more

I watch a lot of movies. Some of them are great. Many of them are bad. But every time the theater goes dark, I get excited. You never know when you’ll spot a breakout star, even when the movie around them is a black hole. In 2016, there was a fantastic new face every month — technically, more often than that if you’ll forgive me for including a dog. Here are the 13 new (or, at least, newly valued) talents that made even the worst films worthwhile. I can’t wait to see what they do in 2017. … read more

Casey Affleck hosted Saturday Night Live last night (December 17), promoting his new film, potential Oscar contender Manchester By The Sea. It was Affleck’s first time hosting the show. There are more important things to discuss about Affleck than his performance on SNL, so let’s jump right to the musical guest, Chance The Rapper. Chance, who returned for his second set of performances on the show, also appeared in the night’s best sketch, “Jingle Barack.”
A rewrite of Run DMC’s “Christmas In Hollis,” … read more

Um, guys? Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump felt left out as John Goodman’s Rex Tillerson and Beck Bennet’s Vladimir Putin shared a secret handshake on the Saturday, December 17, episode of Saturday Night Live. The night’s cold open kicked off with Baldwin’s Trump chatting with his advisor, Kellyanne Conway (Kate McKinnon), about the latest updates in his ongoing cabinet selection. McKinnon-as-Conway reminded him of Rick Perry as his pick for Secretary of Energy, to which Baldwin’s Trump excitedly … read more

Donald Trump really isn’t going to like this week’s “Saturday Night Live.”
In its cold open sketch, the show tore into the president-elect’s reported friendly relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, his misspelled tweets and his controversial cabinet picks.
Actor John Goodman even made an appearance by playing Trump’s pick for Secretary of State, ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson.
The skit began with Alec Baldwin as Trump explaining to Kate McKinnon as his campaign manager Kellyanne … read more

Before we talk about this, can I get your opinion on Sarah Paulson’s hair? (I will be traveling today and will be away for a bit but I will read all your comments!) I am considering doing a dramatic asymmetric cut like this with two tone color. Evan Rachel Wood has this same cut and it is giving me such 90s nostalgia, I love it. I very much realize that it’s a reactionary cut, like when you get a dark pixie cut after a bad breakup, but it’s also bold an dlovely. I want to wait until the summer … read more

Google’s list of the year’s most frequently searched topics revealed that we are all equally obsessed with Beyoncé.
The Lemonade mastermind was the most popular artist of 2017, followed by Céline Dion, whose husband René Angélil passed away in January, and Kesha, whose public legal battle with her former Sony producer Dr. Luke was a recurring story in entertainment headlines. The most-searched general terms included “Powerball,” “Prince,” and “Hurricane Matthew,” while Brad … read more

Casey Affleck took home the prize for Best Actor for his role in Manchester by the Sea, while Natalie Portman was named Best Actress for her work in Jackie. Portman, who is pregnant, … read more

– The host of the 22nd Critics’ Choice Awards chose not to discuss his legal troubles and instead focused on President-elect Donald Trump and the controversies surrounding his election, the Los Angeles Times reports. TJ Miller, a star of the TV series Silicon Valley, was arrested Friday after he allegedly slapped an Uber driver on the head after remarks about Trump. On Sunday night at the awards show, Miller joked about possible hacking of the election by Russia and the automation of jobs. … read more

Kate Beckinsale was in this complicated Reem Acra gown last night, it had puffy sleeves, a lot of tulle at the skirt, multicolored sequins and the skirt was sheer. This is several layers of wrong but at least it’s black instead of say, pastel. That’s the nicest thing I can say about it. Also, Beckinsale’s face on camera was… distracting, I’ll say that. She’s been looking like that for some time though. Since we’re considering pastel looks here’s Kaley Cuoco in very bizarre strapless … read more

WWE star John Cena hosted Saturday Night Live last night (December 10), only the fourth pro wrestler to host SNL after Hulk Hogan and Mr. T and four-time host Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Cena was pretty great, even when the episode wasn’t, full of energy and charisma and several steps above the dead-eyed athletes that typically host the show. The last two episodes have been marked by President-elect Donald Trump’s tweets about the show, though Trump was thankfully silent during last night’s airing, … read more

It was strange to hear Donald Trump was going to remain executive producer of Celebrity Apprentice after being elected president of the United States. Where would he find the time?
Well, according to the president-elect himself, he won’t have time. In fact, he tweeted he will spend “zero time” working on the reality TV show that made him famous, despite having a “big stake in it.” Trump tweeted earlier, “Reports by @CNN that I will be working on The Apprentice during my Presidency, even … read more
